The Trinamool Congress Government has done a lot of developmental work in Nadia, making it one of the most-developed districts of the Bangla.

Highlights of the developmental work:

Health: 10 fair-price medicine shops, 7 fair-price diagnostic centres, 16 SNSUs, 4 SNCUs, 4 CCUs, 4 HDUs, 1 Mother and Child Hub; Institute of Public Health Kalyani (IPHK) and 1 more HDU coming up; State has provided land for an AIIMS in Kalyani

Schools: 339 schools established, 123 schools’ levels upgraded, 1 model school

Scholarships: More than 3.34 lakh students under Kanyashree, more than 4.7 lakh students under Sikshashree

Higher education: Indian Institute of Information Technology in Kalyani, Indian Institute of Handloom Technology in Fulia, campus of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), 4 government degree colleges, 10 ITIs, 4 polytechnic colleges; extension campus of Harichand-Guruchand University coming up

Kisan Mandi: 10 Kisan Mandis set up

100 Days’ Work: More than 9.42 crore man-days created from FY 2013-14 to 2018-19

Housing: About 1.94 lakh people benefitted from housing schemes, including rural housing

Mission Nirmal Bangla: Nadia was declared India’s first ODF district (Nirmal Zilla), for which the district administration won the United Nations Public Service Award in 2015

Industry: 4 industrial park, 72 MSME clusters (including 15 MSME clusters, 53 handloom clusters, 4 khadi clusters), IT park in Kalyani, Muslin Tirtha – muslin manufacturing and marketing set-up in Krishnanagar-1 block, training for muslin weavers, Tant Sathi Scheme, through which training is given to handloom weavers; bank loans worth Rs 4,487 crore given to MSMEs

Roads & bridges: More than 2,500 km of roads built/repaired/widened; 1 bridge built in FY 2018-19

Tourism: Art and craft museum in Ghurni, conversion of graveyard at the battlefield in Palashi into a tourism centre; Nabadwip and Mayapur being built up as heritage cities

Samajik Suraksha Yojana: More than 9.5 lakh unorganised labourers enlisted

Karmatirtha: 26 Karmatirthas functioning

Sports: 215 multi-gyms, 22 mini indoor stadiums, Krishnanagar Zilla Krirangan and Nabadwip Stadium built
