Mamata Banerjee speaks out against threats by BJP

Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee has spoken out against the threatening attitude of the BJP towards the Opposition parties. Countless times over the last four years has the party indulged in acts to terrorise people and parties which are not aligned to its views.

Mamata Banerjee has put forth her views strongly numerous times against such lowly acts – be it in speeches and meetings, in official communications to the Centre or through social media.

Two recent examples are the raids by the CBI on Yogendra Yadav’s family members and targeting of the Missionaries of Charity in a child abduction case.

On July 12, Mamata Banerjee tweeted out about the targeting of the sisters of Missionaries of Charity (MC) by the BJP regarding a case of abduction of babies from an MC home in Ranchi.

She wrote: “Mother Teresa herself set up Missionaries of Charity. And now they are also not being spared. Malicious attempts to malign their name. The Sisters are being targeted. #BJP want to spare no one. Highly condemnable. Let MOC continue to do their work for the poorest of the poor.”

Later, she spoke out against the raid on Yogendra Yadav’s family. The Income Tax Department, controlled by the Centre, had conducted raids on multiple premises of a hospital group at Rewari in Haryana, which belongs to Yogendra Yadav’s sisters.

She wrote: “2019 elections are coming. #BJP using the agencies to silence Opposition voices and openly doing political vendetta. Strongly condemn the IT raid on @_YogendraYadav Ji’s family.”
