Local MP of BJP uncouth, does not know Bengali culture: Didi at Raniganj
Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Raniganj in Asansol constituency. In her speech, she said that the local MP of BJP is uncouth and does not know Bengali culture. He has been an absentee MP, who is seen only during elections, she added.
Mamata Banerjee also asked voters to defeat the arrogance of BJP.
Highlights of her speech:
- The local MP is uncouth and uses abusive language. But we will not sink to their level. I am in public life for decades. He does not under Bengali culture
- They have carried out a lot of torture on the people of Asansol by bringing in goons, arms and bombs from Jharkhand. But we are fighters and cannot be intimidated
- The local MP cannot be found throughout the year. He only makes an appearance during elections, like a seasonal bird. He is arrogant and is audacious. Do not vote for him
- Asansol was a municipality earlier. Now it has become a municipal corporation
- A drinking water supply project worth Rs 2,800 crore is going on in Asansol. First phase of work is complete in Kulti
- Raniganj is prone to landslides. This may lead to loss of life. So, we are constructing 45,000 flats to ensure your safety
- We declared Asansol a new district. We set up a new police commissionerate. A new university, Hindi college are coming up in this district
- A new Hindi university is coming up at Howrah
- We have given recognition to Hindi, Urdu, Santhali, Nepali, Gurmukhi and many other languages
- 300-bedded multi super speciality hospital has come up in this district. We have renovated Asansol District Hospital
- Industrial estates have come up at Panagarh and Durgapur where investments worth Rs 40,000 crore are coming
- World’s largest coal mine is coming up at Deocha Pachami, which will create lots of jobs
- A new greenfield airport has been set up at Andal. A six-lane bypass has come up at Panagarh
- Coal mafia operates in the coal mines. These fall under the jurisdiction of the central forces
- The BJP gets most of its funds from the coal mafia. The local MP says Trinamool has links to coal mafia. Then why is the central forces not taking action?
- Earlier he used to call himself a chaiwallah. Now he pretends to be a chowkidar. Chowkidar is actually a thief
- Modi won the mandate five years ago but squandered it away in touring foreign nations
- He promised to bring back black money and give Rs 15 lakh to everyone. Instead he looted people’s money during demonetisation
- Hindu religion is ages old. BJP was born recently. They only bring shame to the religion
- We have developed Tarapith, Tarakeshwar, Bakreshwar, Kankalitala and many other temples
- BJP only remembers Ram’s name during elections. They have failed to build the Ram temple
- The duo of BJP are like Duryodhan and Dushashan. They are Jagai-Madhai. They organised rallies with maces and swords to instill fear among people
- People from various other States live here in harmony. We do not discriminate among anyone
- Never before have riots taken place in Asansol. But after the local MP was elected, even that has happened
- The BJP only believes in the politics of division, bloodshed and discrimination
- During demonetisation, people lost their savings, youths lost their jobs. Modi declared notes as invalid. People will declare his government as invalid
- They only use muscle and money power. They are bringing money from Jharkhand to distribute here
- The BJP should take care of Jharkhand; they are going to do very badly in the elections
- We have done a lot of developmental work in Bengal. From scholarships to financial assistance – we are empowering all
- Moonmoon Sen belongs to a very good family. She will never orchestrate riots. She won in Bankura last time
- We have never seen a Prime Minister so below the standard. Look at the manner in which he speaks
- BSNL employees are not getting salaries. Jet Airways has shut operations. Burn Standard has closed down. People have no livelihood
- We will take parties from all States along and form the government at Centre
- The PM never visits Bengal during droughts or floods. He comes only to campaign during elections
- Are we not Hindus? Isn’t Durga Puja celebrated here? Don’t you celebrate Chhath Puja? The BJP only indulges in false propaganda
- We celebrate Hindu festivals. We participate in Eid also. We also participate in Christmas, Guru Parab and other festivals
- BJP brings shame to Hinduism. Do not shame Ram by using his name for politics
- Neither Hindus nor Muslims organise roots. Only BJP and RSS orchestrate riots for political benefits
- We want peace not riots. We want employment not joblessness. They only give big speeches
- We salute our armed forces, but never use their name for political reasons
- We must defeat the arrogance of Modi and BJP. We have to remove them from power at Centre
- Everyone else is scared of Modi. Not us. That is why keeps on harping about Bengal. We are not scared. Even in Varanasi he was speaking about Bengal
