Kolkata-London direct flights to resume on Mamata Banerjee’s request
At Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s special request, Air India is going to start direct flights connecting Kolkata and London soon.
She made this request to Union Civil Aviation Minister, PA Gajapathi Raju at the swearing-in ceremony for the second term of the Trinamool Congress Government on Red Road on Friday. The minister has given assurance that Air India is going to resume its direct flight services connecting the two metro cities.

কলকাতা-লন্ডন সরাসরি বিমান পরিষেবা
মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের উদ্যোগ আট বছর পর ফের চালু হতে চলেছে কলকাতা-লন্ডন সরাসরি বিমান পরিষেবা। শুক্রবার রেড রোডে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের দ্বিতীয়বার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী পদে শপথের অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন অসামরিক বিমান চলাচল মন্ত্রী অশোক গজপতি রাজু। শপথের পরই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী তাকে এই পরিষেবা চালু করার অনুরোধ জানালে তিনি আশ্বাস দেন এ ব্যাপারে তিনি এয়ার ইন্ডিয়াকে প্রয়োজনীয় নির্দেশ দেবেন।
এবছর পশ্চিমবাংলার উন্নতির জন্য মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এয়ার টারবাইন জ্বালানিতে ছাড় দিতে রাজি হয়েছেন। ফলে পরিষেবা চালু হওয়ারও উজ্জ্বল সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।
এই পরিষেবা চালু হলে বিদেশি বিনিয়োগের সভাবনা বৃদ্ধি পাবে। তেমনই বাড়বে পর্যটন শিল্প। এই দুই লক্ষ্যের কথা মাথায় রেখেই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী কলকাতা-লন্ডন পরিষেবার ওপর জোর দিচ্ছেন।
