KMC to renovate ‘Mayer Bari’ in Bagbazar
Keeping pace with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s plans of developing heritage tourism in a big way throughout Bengal, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will soon begin work for renovating ‘Mayer Bari’ in Bagbazar in order to convert it into a tourist destination.
‘Mayer Bari’ is the house where Ma Sarada, or Sarada Devi, the wife and spiritual counterpart of Sri Ramakrishna, had spent 11 years of her life. Hundreds of devotees and tourists from India as well as from abroad throng the building every day. The house will be an integral part of the heritage-cum-religious tourism project conceived by Mamata Banerjee.
A vocational training centre and a children’s park will also be set up in the area around ‘Mayer Bari’. The stretch will be decked up with illuminative lights to give it a majestic look. The narrow lane leading to ‘Mayer Bari’ will also be widened, as during festivals thousands of devotees line up to pay homage to Ma Sarada.
বাগবাজারে ‘মায়ের বাড়ি’ সংস্কার করবে কলকাতা পুরসভা
মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় সারা বাংলায় হেরিটেজ পর্যটনের প্রসারের জন্য যে উদ্যোগ নিয়েছেন, সেই কথা মাথায় রেখে কলকাতা পুরসভা শীঘ্রই বাগবাজারের ‘মায়ের বাড়ি’র সংস্কার করতে চলেছে।
শ্রী রামকৃষ্ণ পরমহংসদেবের স্ত্রী মা সারদা ১১ বছর কাটিয়েছেন এই বাড়িতে। প্রতিদিন এখানে দেশ বিদেশ থেকে বহুসংখ্যক ভক্তদের সমাগম হয়। এই বাড়িটি হেরিটেজ ও ধর্মীয় পর্যটনের এক অবিচ্ছেদ্য অঙ্গ হতে চলেছে।
এই বাড়ির আশেপাশের এলাকার ও সংস্কার করা হবে। সাজানো বাগান গড়া হবে। বাড়িটির অনতিদুরে তৈরি হবে বাচ্চাদের জন্য একটি খেলার পার্ক, প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়; খোলা হবে বৃত্তিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণ কেন্দ্র।
এলাকার শোভা বাড়াতে এই অঞ্চলটি আলো দিয়ে সাজানো হবে। মায়ের বাড়ির সামনের রাস্তাটিও চওড়া করা হবে। এই উদ্যোগে খুশির হাওয়া বাগবাজারবাসীদের মধ্যে।
