KMC to ensure proper use of cables
Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will fix a time limit for cable operators to remove unused cables, as many hang loose or form clumps on lamp posts and other places. Besides being an eyesore, this can also be dangerous. The officials are talking to various cable operators to ensure this happens.
KMC officials have also said that the same would be done for electric cables too as many hang dangerously. Gradually electric cables would be routed through roadside utility tunnels made specially for the purpose.
The pilot project for tunnelling has started in ward 59 and will gradually cover the whole of Kolkata.
