KMC to develop app to track hoardings
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation will develop an app to keep track of the hoardings put up across the city, said the mayor recently.
The main monitor for tracking the hoardings will be at the chamber of the chief manager of the KMC. A census of hoardings will be held and the illegal ones will be removed, he said.
Residents will be able to track the hoardings by downloading the app and in case they have any doubt they can contact the civic authorities immediately.
The civic body will also ask advertising firms to shift to LED or canvas hoardings as those made out of flex cause visual pollution and can lead to major accidents when they collapse during storms.
The mayor also said that the KMC will remove the hoardings that have been put up in front of heritage structures.
The KMC is also considering developing a similar app to track the parking of vehicles in the fee parking zones in the city.
