KMC to buy cell count analysers to effectively detect dengue
To enable quick counting of platelets in blood samples, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided to buy cell count analysers.
This is an important step in the civic body’s efforts to prevent and fight dengue, as platelet count is an important parameter to diagnose the disease.
The KMC has 15 dengue testing centres, which are doing a commendable job. According to a senior official, no other civic body in India has the kind of infrastructure to fight dengue like that available in Kolkata.

দ্রুত রক্তের প্লেটলেট দেখতে সেল কাউন্টার যন্ত্র কিনতে চলেছে কলকাতা পুরসভা। মাইক্রোস্কোপের পাশাপাশি সেল কাউন্টের মাধ্যমে রোগীর শরীরে প্লেটলেটের সংখ্যা দ্রুত খতিয়ে দেখতেই এই ভাবনা।
প্রতি বছর জানুয়ারি মাস থেকেই ডেঙ্গু রোধে কাজ শুরু করে কলকাতা পুরসভা। এবছরও তার অন্যথা হয়নি। সময়মতো কাজ শুরু হওয়ার কারণে কলকাতায় সেভাবে ডেঙ্গু ছড়াতে পারেনি।
জনস্বাস্থ্যে ডেঙ্গু নিয়ন্ত্রণে তাড়াতাড়ি রোগ নির্নয় করাই পুরসভার উদ্দেশ্য। সাধারন মানুষের সুবিধার্থে ১৫টি ডেঙ্গু নির্নয় কেন্দ্র তৈরি করা হয়েছে। মেয়র পারিষদ বলেছেন, ভারতবর্ষে ডেঙ্গু রুখতে যে পরিকাঠামো কলকাতা পুরসভার রয়েছে তা অন্য কোনও রাজ্যে নেই।
খামখেয়ালি আবহাওয়ার কারণে ডেঙ্গু যাতে বাড়তে না পারে তার জন্য আগামী নভেম্বর মাসেও স্বাস্থ্যকর্মীদের ছুটি বাতিল করা হয়েছে। পৌরপিতাদের নিজ নিজ এলাকা সরেজমিনে খতিয়ে দেখার নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়েছে।
