Point of Order raised by Derek O’Brien on placing of selective documents by MoS Defence
Sir, this is a Point of Order under Rule 249 – authentication of papers being placed on the table. As per your request, the Minister has placed a paper on the table on the issue of the Army in Bengal. Sir, these documents, which have been placed in the House, are dated November 27-29.
Sir, my contention is that this is selective placing of documents. I want to put on record here, Sir – give me the permission – on Monday morning I will present documents here which are contrary to that because they are dated November 30 and December 1.
The issue is about December 1, not November 27-28. Please allow me permission to place those documents. And by the way, Sir, even for these documents, they are not being authenticated as per the rules of the Rajya Sabha. I will also place on record that the Chief Secretary of Bengal and the Kolkata Police Commissioner have given them in writing.
