I won’t tolerate Bengal being insulted: Mamata Banerjee in Memari
Mamata Banerjee addressed rallies in Pandua and Memari, in Hooghly and Bardhaman districts, respectively, today.
This is her tenth rally in Bardhaman, spanning five days in total. The Pandua rally was her first in Hooghly district. She also led thousands of people in a padyatra at Bardhaman Town.
On the opposition
I won’t tolerate Bengal being insulted. You (the opposition parties) have insulted me, insulted the people of Bengal. I will take accounts from all those people who are slandering Bengal. We don’t want a repeat of the mass murders at Nandigram, Singur, Sainbari, Netai. I will do my best to provide help whenever needed. All my life I have fought against the terror of the CPI(M) and the fundamentalism of the BJP. On May 19 our government will be completing five years. We are not scared of threats issued by the BJP. The only thing the BJP has done in Bengal is to instigate riots. It is only because I had created Trinamool Congress that I have been able to out the CPI(M). The BJP people are coming from Delhi and spreading terror here, I won’t tolerate this injustice. Just because I’ve stood for elections, doesn’t mean I’ll bow my head in front of anyone. (On the show-cause notice) Whether I answer or the Chief Secretary answers is not crucial. If a letter is sent to the party, the reply would be given on party letterhead. If a letter is sent to the government, the reply would be given on government letterhead.
On developments in the State
We have started Khadya Shathi, Kanyashree, Sabuj Shathi and reservation for minority communities. We have set up farmers’ markets, built stadiums. We have brought in a wave of development; starting from schools to roads, we have built everything. In Bengal, you will get healthcare free of cost. Every household is now electrified, load-sheddings are a thing of the past. Delhi is deducting from our funds yet Bengal is surging ahead. We are number one in the 100 Days’ Work Scheme. In terms of the top four open defaecation free (ODF) district, three are from West Bengal. Among these, first is Nadia and second is Hooghly. You have to know how to work. All schools are being served mid-day meals. All schools have separate toilets for boys and girls. Fair-price medicine shops have been opened all over West Bengal. Forty-one multi super-speciality hospitals have been planned, of which 30 have been inaugurated. Three SNCU units, 16 Mother and Child Care (MCH) hubs, nine medical colleges, 80 police stations (including 30 women police stations), 10 coastal police stations, 19 human rights courts, 45 special women’s courts, 88 fast-track courts, five police commissionerates, 15 universities, 46 government colleges, 300 it is and polytechnic colleges, and 171 Kisan Bazaars. We have turned around Bengal within a span of four years. Over the 34 years before that, the CPI(M) had run a reign of terror and torture. Numerous secondary schools have been upgraded to higher secondary. In the coming days, Sabuj Dweep in Balagarh is going to become a major tourism centre. Bengal has come a long way.
On the financial turnaround
We have got the political right to rule but have still not got the financial right to govern our government of ‘poriborton’ the way we want to. We have been able to increase our annual revenue from Rs 20,000 crore to Rs 40,000 crore in four years. Over the past five years, Rs 1.40 lakh crore has been deducted from our revenues to repay the debt left behind by the Left Front.

বাংলার অসম্মান সহ্য করব না: মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়
আজ হুগলির পাণ্ডুয়া এবং বর্ধমানের মেমারিতে জনসভা করেন তৃণমূল নেত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এরপর বর্ধমান শহরে একটি পদযাত্রায় অংশগ্রহণ করেন তিনি। বর্ধমানে এটি তার দশম জনসভা।
বিরোধীদের উদ্দেশ্যে
বাংলার অসম্মান সহ্য করব না। বাংলাকে যেভাবে অপমান ও অসম্মান করা হচ্ছে আমরা তার জবাব দেব ইঞ্চিতে ইঞ্চিতে। দিল্লি থেকে এসে বাংলায় সন্ত্রাস চালাচ্ছে, এই অন্যায় অত্যাচার আমারা সহ্য করব না। নির্বাচনে দাঁড়িয়েছি বলে আমরা কারো কাছে মাথা নত করব না। সব টাকা দিল্লি কেটে নিয়ে যাচ্ছে তাও বাংলা এগিয়ে যাচ্ছে।আমরা আর নন্দিগ্রাম, সিঙ্গুর, সাঁইবাড়ি, নেতাইয়ের গণহত্যা চাই না।বিজেপির ধমককে আমি ভয় পাই না। বাংলায় দাঙ্গা লাগানো ছাড়া আর কিছু করেনি বিজেপি। ৩৪ বছর ধরে বাংলায় সন্ত্রাস আর অত্যাচার করেছে সিপিএম। আমি আমার সারা জীবন সিপিএমের সন্ত্রাস আর বিজেপির সাম্প্রদায়িকতার বিরুদ্ধে লড়াই করেছি।
নির্বাচন কমিশনের শো-কজ করার প্রসঙ্গে তিনি বলেন, আমাকে তৃণমূল নেত্রী হিসেবে চিঠি পাঠালে পার্টি লেটারহেডে উত্তর দিতাম,মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হিসেবে চিঠি পাঠিয়েছে তাই সেভাবেই উত্তর দেওয়া হয়েছে।
উন্নয়ন
তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস ২ টাকা কেজি চাল দিয়েছে, কন্যাশ্রী দিয়েছে, সবুজ সাথী দিয়েছে, সংখ্যালঘুদের সংরক্ষণের ব্যবস্থা করেছে। কৃষক বাজার, স্টেডিয়াম তৈরি করেছি আমরা। আমরা ঢেলে কাজ করেছি, রাস্তাঘাট থেকে স্কুল কলেজ সব তৈরি করেছি আমরা। বিনা পয়সায় স্বাস্থ্য পরিষেবা পাওয়া যায় বাংলায়। সবার ঘরে আজ আলো পৌঁছে গেছে, এখন আর লোডশেডিং নেই বাংলায়। ১০০ দিনের কাজে বাংলা আজ এক নম্বরে। স্বচ্ছ ভারতের প্রথম ৪টি জেলার মধ্যে তিনটি জেলা বাংলার। প্রথম নদিয়া এবং দ্বিতীয় হুগলি।
আজ সব স্কুলে মিড ডে মিল চালু হয়ে গেছে, সব স্কুলে ছেলে ও মেয়েদের জন্য পৃথক শৌচাগার তৈরি হয়েছে সারা বাংলা জুড়ে তৈরি হয়েছে ন্যায্য মূল্যের ওষুধের দোকান। ৪১টি মাল্টি সুপার স্পেশালিটি হাসপাতাল তৈরি হয়েছে, এর মধ্যে ৩০টি উদ্বোধন করা হয়ে গেছে, বাচ্চাদের জন্য ৩০০ টি এস এন এস ইউ ইউনিট তৈরি হয়েছে, ১৬টি মাদার ও চাইল্ড কেয়ার হাব তৈরি হয়েছে, ৯টি মেডিকেল কলেজ তৈরি হয়েছে, ১৯টি মানবাধিকার কোর্ট তৈরি হয়েছে, ৮০টি নতুন থানা হয়েছে এর মধ্যে ৩০ টি মহিলা থানা। আরও ৮টা কোস্টাল থানা তৈরি হয়েছে, ৪৫টি বিশেষ মহিলা আদালত, ৮৮টি ফার্স্ট ট্র্যাক কোর্ট, ৫টি পুলিশ কমিশনারেট, ১৫টি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, ৪৬টি সরকারি কলেজ, ৩০০টি আইটিআই আর পলিটেকনিক কলেজ, ১৭১টি কিষাণ বাজার তৈরি হয়েছে।
চার বছরের মধ্যে বাংলা ঘুরে দাঁড়িয়েছে। যে কাজ গুলো আমরা হাতে নিয়েছি আগে সেগুলো সম্পূর্ণ করব তারপর নতুন কাজ শুরু করব। বলাগড়ের সবুজ দ্বীপ আগামীদিন এক জনপ্রিয় পর্যটন কেন্দ্র তৈরি হবে, এর কাজ ইতিমধ্যেই শুরু হয়ে গেছে। বাংলা আজ অনেক এগিয়ে। এলাকার মাধ্যমিক স্কুলগুলিতে উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক স্কুলে পরিণত করা হয়েছে। ১৯শে মে আমাদের সরকারের পাঁচ বছর পূর্ণ হবে। আমি আমার সাধ্যমতো চেষ্টা করে যাব মানুষকে সব রকমভাবে সাহায্য করার।
অর্থনৈতিক দিক
১৯৯৮ সালে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস তৈরি করেছিলাম বলেই বাংলা থেকে বিতাড়িত করতে পেরেছি। আমরা গণতান্ত্রিক অধিকার পেয়েছি কিন্তু আমাদের পরিবর্তনের সরকার আজও অর্থনৈতিক অধিকার পায়নি।
আমাদের মাথার ওপর ২ লক্ষ কোটি টাকার দেনা রেখে গেছে সিপিএম। আগে বাংলার রোজগার ছিল ২০ হাজার কোটি টাকা, আমাদের আমলে সেটা বেড়ে হয়েছে ৪০ হাজার কোটি টাকা। পাঁচ বছরে ১ লক্ষ ৪০ হাজার কোটি টাকা কেটে নিয়ে গেছে কেন্দ্র।
