High tide of development in Murshidabad

Murshidabad has seen development in every sector, be it health, education, handloom weaving, in which the district has a centuries-old tradition, or several others.
Health: 3 multi-super speciality hospitals, 5 fair-price medicine shops, 3 fair-price diagnostic centres, free beds, 24 SNSUs, 6 SNCUs, 3 CCUs, 3 HDUs, 1 Mother and Child Hub
Schools: 562 schools established, 132 schools’ levels upgraded; 9 model schools being set up
Scholarships: More than 4.82 lakh students under Kanyashree, more than 2.02 lakh students under Sikshashree
Higher education: 8 ITIs, 1 polytechnic college established; Murshidabad University coming up
Kisan Mandi: 21 Kisan Mandis set up
100 Days’ Work: About 8.36 crore man-days created from FY 2013-14 to 2018-19
Housing: About 3.36 lakh people benefitted from housing schemes, including rural housing
Mission Nirmal Bangla: 100% of the district is ODF
Industry: 22 MSME clusters (including 3 handloom clusters and 1 khadi cluster) set up; 700 tantis (handloom weavers) being trained as part of Project Muslin; bank loans worth Rs 4,847 crore given to MSMEs
Roads & bridges: More than 2,400km of roads built/repaired/widened
Irrigation: Kandi Master Plan, a flood-mitigation plan long demanded by the people of the district, is nearing completion – 5 lakh people to benefit from it
Tourism: Prakriti Tirtha set up, centred around the huge lake, Motijheel; circuit tourism project connecting Baharampur, Karnasubarna and Kandi completed; another circuit tourism project connecting Murshidabad, Malda and Nadia taken up
Samajik Suraksha Yojana: More than 8.13 lakh unorganised labourers enlisted
Karmatirtha: 50 Karmatirthas built
Sports: 47 multi-gyms, 8 mini indoor stadiums; Baharampur Stadium renovated
