High tide of development in Alipurduar district

Over the last seven and a half years, the Trinamool Congress Government has undertaken large-scale developmental activities in the Alipurduar district. Here are some of the major achievements:
1. New district: Alipurduar subdivision converted into a district on June 25, 2014.
2. Dooarskanya: District secretariat building, ‘Dooarskanya’ in Alipurduar town now a national model – it is the first secretariat building in the State where all departmental offices are housed under the same roof
3. Health: Multi-super speciality hospital in Falakata, 2 fair-price medicine shops; 3 fair-price diagnostic centres (in Alipurduar District Hospital); free beds, 7 SNSUs, 2 SNCUs
4. Schools: 28 schools upgraded to higher levels; 2 model schools set up
5. Scholarships: 75,000 girls under Kanyashree, 2.56 lakh students received Sikshashree
6. Higher education: 2 general degree colleges, 2 ITIs (work for 1 going on), 1 PTTI college set up; Alipurduar University, 1 government engineering college, 1 polytechnic college being set up
7. Kisan Mandi: 6 Kisan Mandis set up
8. Rural housing: 27,502 people benefitted from rural housing schemes
9. Tea gardens: 35kg foodgrains (rice and atta) at Rs 2 per kg being provided for tea garden worker families; 44 fair-price ration shops set up; drinking water projects completed in 3 tea gardens; 25 anganwadi centres set in tea gardens
10. Industry: 4 MSME clusters, 1 Rural Haat have come up; bank loans worth more than Rs 400 crore provided
11. Roads & bridges: Bridges over Basra and Bala Rivers, over 1,300 km of roads built/repaired/widened
12. Dooars Mega Tourism Project: Developments of tourist facilities at Jalpdapa Tourist Lodge, and in Ratneswar Jheel, Bakla, Shikiyajhora and Hashimara
13. Samajik Suraksha Yojana: 1.32 lakh unorganised labourers enlisted
14. Karmatirtha: 3 Karmatirthas have come up
15. Sports: 21 multi-gyms and 4 mini indoor stadiums constructed
