WB CM inaugurates Hajj House and other projects in New Town
West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee inaugurated Hajj House at 5 pm today. The State Government has spent Rs 100 crore to construct the Haj House in New Town (near Eco Space). Back in 2012, the Government had purchased 15 bighas of land from HIDCO for the purpose.
All possible amenities for those travelling to do Hajj are available at Hajj House, including a mosque and an auditorium. The 12-storied building has been named Medinatul Hajjaj.
The building can house 3000 worshippers. Besides those from West Bengal, Medinatul Hajjaj would also house Hajj travellers from Tripura and Odisha.
Along with Hajj House, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the following: second campus of Aaliya University in Park Circus, AK Fazkul Haque Muslim Girls’ Hostel on Dilkhusha Street, Government Girls’ General Degree College in Ekbalpore, widening and strengthening of four roads in North 24-Parganas district, motels for tourists (part of Pather Sathi project) in Bongaon, Berachanpa and Tentulia, setting up of solar light for schools in North 24-Parganas district, renovation and beautification of Sethpukur in North 24-Parganas district, Chaker Bheri under Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation, permanent refugee shelters in Baogachi and Kashipur in Habra-1 block and Andolan Setu in Balurghat.
Mamata Banerjee also laid the foundation stones of the following projects: Aukaf Bhavan, Hajj House girls’ hostel in Kaikhali, housing for employees of Aaliya University, widening and strengthening of two roads in North 24-Parganas district, Naihati bus terminus, convocation centre in North Barrackpore Municipality and a project for directly providing Talent Support Scholarships to 1.5 lakh students.
The salient points of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s speech:
- Aliah University today gets a new campus in Kolkata along with a hostel for girls.
- Aliah University will shine all over the world and the students would be successful in various fields.
- The Hajj House in Kolkata is beautiful and comparable to the ones in Arab countries.
- Kolkata also gets a new college. The Government Girl’s General Degree College will open up new avenues for girls in Bengal.
- The Government has spent Rs 2 crore on a hostel for Ekbalpore Governemnt Girls’ General Degree College.
- In two years, almost 97% of Muslims have been covered undered the 17% reservation for OBCs.
- 59,000 Muslim students have received educational scholarships in the past year.
- Because of reservation, many Muslim students have achieved successes in the past year; among them 24 WBCS officers, 300 medical and engineering students, and 10 judicial officers.
- A total of 1.5 lakh scholarships have been given out for Muslims.
আজ নিউটাউনে হজ হাউস সহ আরও অনেক প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী
আজ নিউ টাউনে হজ হাউসের উদ্বোধন করলেন মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। প্রায় ১০০ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে ইকো স্পেসের কাছে তৈরি হয়েছে নিউটাউনের এই ভবনটি। এই হজ হাউসটি তৈরি করতে ২০১২ সালে হিডকোর থেকে ১৫ বিঘা জমি কেনে রাজ্য সরকার।
একটি মসজিদ এবং প্রেক্ষাগৃহ-সহ যাত্রীদের জন্য সব রকম আধুনিক সুযোগসুবিধা থাকবে এই ভবনে। ১২ তলা এই ভবনটির নামকরণ করা হয়েছে ‘মদিনাতুল হুজ্জাজ’।
তিন হাজার যাত্রীর থাকার ব্যবস্থা রয়েছে এই হাউসটিতে। ভিন রাজ্যের মধ্যে ত্রিপুরা এবং ওড়িশার পাশাপাশি এ রাজ্যের উত্তরবঙ্গের হজ যাত্রীরা ওই হাউসে থাকতে পারবেন।
হজ হাউস সহ মুখ্যমন্ত্রী আরও কিছু প্রকল্পের উদ্বোধন করলেন। যেমন – পার্ক সার্কাসে আলিয়া বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের দ্বিতীয় ক্যাম্পাস, দিলখুশা স্ট্রীটে এ.কে ফজলুল হোক মুসলিম গার্লস হোস্টেল, একবালপুরে গভর্নমেন্ট গার্লস ডিগ্রী কলেজ, উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা জেলার ৪টি রাস্তার প্রশস্তকরণ ও দৃঢ়ীকরণ, বেড়াচাঁপা ও তেতুলিয়াতে পর্যটকদের জন্য মোটেল (পথের সাথী), উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা জেলায় বিভিন্ন বিদ্যালয়ে সোলার লাইট প্রতিস্থাপন ও শেঠপুকুরের সংস্কার ও সৌন্দর্যায়ন, বিধাননগর পৌর নিগমের চকের ভেড়ি, হাবরা -১ ব্লকের বাওগাছি ও কাশিপুরে স্থায়ী ত্রাণ শিবির ও বালুরঘাটে আন্দোলন সেতু।
এছাড়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী আরও কিছু প্রকল্পের শিলান্যাস করলেন। যেমন – আউকাফ ভবন ও ক্ষমতায়ন কেন্দ্র, কৈখালির হজ হাউস কাম ছাত্রী আবাস, আলিয়া বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের কর্মী আবাস, উত্তর ২৪ পরগনা জেলায় ২টি রাস্তার প্রশস্তিকরণ ও দৃঢ়ীকরণ, নৈহাটি বাস টার্মিনাস এবং নর্থ ব্যারাকপুর মিউনিসিপালিটি-তে কনভেনশন সেন্টারের শিলান্যাস করবেন এবং ১.৫ লক্ষ ছাত্র–ছাত্রীকে ট্যালেন্ট সাপোর্ট স্কলারশিপ সরাসরি প্রদান করবেন।
এদিন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন,” আজ রাজ্য সরকার দেড় লক্ষ সংখ্যালঘু ছেলেমেয়েকে স্কলারশিপ দিয়েছে, আর যেসব ছেলেমেয়েরা ৫০ শতাংশের কম নম্বর পাবে তারাও এই স্কলারশিপ পাবে”।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্যের কিছু বিষয়ঃ
- নিউ টাউনে প্রায় কয়েকশো কোটি টাকার জল সরবরাহ প্রকল্প চালু হল
- আরবেও এত সুন্দর হজ হাউস নেই, যা কলকাতায় আছে
- আলিয়া বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের একটি বড় ক্যাম্পাস তৈরি হল, মেয়েদের হস্টেল তৈরি হল
- ৫৯০০০ সংখ্যালঘু মুসলিম ছেলেমেয়েরা উচ্চ শিক্ষার সুযোগ পেয়েছে
- ২৪ জন সংখ্যালঘু ছেলেমেয়ে ডবলু বি সি এস এ সুযোগ পেয়েছে
- আলিয়া বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে সারা দেশ থেকে ছেলেমেয়েরা পড়াশোনা করতে আসবে
