Free diagnostic & pathological tests at govt hospitals soon

As per plans firmed up by the State Health Department, diagnostic and pathological tests at all medical college hospitals, and district and sub-divisional hospitals would soon be available free of cost. The entire cost would be borne by the State Government.
These tests were earlier done at discounted rates through the private-public partnership (PPP) model at the outdoor and emergency departments of these hospitals.
The project would initially be implemented at all the government medical college. It would be done in various phases in the district and sub-divisional hospitals. The tests include MRI, CT scan, digital X-ray, various types of blood tests and a few others.
Since coming to power in 2011 under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Trinamool Congress Government has taken up a host of measures to make healthcare affordable for all, like free beds at government hospitals (except a few at the super-speciality SSKM), fair price medicine shops and fair price diagnostic centres. The latter would now be completely free of cost soon.
