Foreigners to be invited to experience traditional marriages
Bengal has long been known for its tolerance – be it in religion, culture or anything else. Now, the State Government’s Tourism Department has decided to put that to good use by inviting foreign tourists to experience traditional marriages.
Foreign tourists would be invited to select marriages by the department, and it would be part of tour packages. The tourists would be able to experience and enjoy the various sights and sounds of traditional marriages of Bengal. They would be encouraged to be in traditional garb too, to have an even more immersive experience. This is a highly appreciable move to promote the cultures of Bengal.
In another bid to popularise tourism in the state, the department has decided to encourage wildlife photography, though taking care that wildlife and the environment are not harmed in any way.
In this connection, it may be noted that Bengal is among the top five states in terms of arrival of foreign tourists, and these and other measures by the Trinamool Congress-led government are expected to boost the sector further.

সারা দেশে সর্বধর্ম মিলন ক্ষেত্র হিসেবে আজও কলকাতা তথা বাংলা দেশের শীর্ষ স্থানে। রাজ্য এবার সেই সংস্কৃতিকেই হাতিয়ার করে সারা দেশে পর্যটনে এক নম্বর জায়গা দখল করতে চায়।
আগামী দিনে বিয়ের মরশুমে পর্যটনের আলাদা ব্যবস্থাপনা রাজ্যের পক্ষ থেকে গড়ে তোলার কাজ শুরু করা হয়েছে। যেখানে বিদেশী পর্যটকদের সামনে প্রাদেশিক বিয়ের আয়োজন থেকে শুরু করে কিভাবে দম্পতিরা তাদের সেই মুল্যবান সময়কে উপভোগ করেন তা দেখার একটা বড় সুযোগ গড়ে তোলার চেষ্টা করা হবে। তার ফলে পর্যটকরা সেই সব অনুমতিপ্রাপ্তও বিয়ের অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দিয়ে বাংলার সংস্কৃতিকে আরও আত্মস্থ করতে পারবেন বলেই মনে করা হচ্ছে। এ ছাড়াও রাজ্যে যে বিপুল পরিমান বন্যপ্রান রয়েছে তার জন্য ওয়াইল্ড লাইফ ফটোগ্রাফিকে এবার প্রোমোট করতে চাইছে রাজ্য।
প্রসঙ্গত, গত ছয় বছরে রাজ্য সরকারের উদ্যোগে পর্যটন শিল্পে যা পরিকাঠামো গড়ে তোলা হয়েছে, তার সুবাদে ইতিমধ্যেই বিদেশী পর্যটকদের ভিড়ের নিরিখে দেশের প্রথম পাঁচ রাজ্যের মধ্যে জায়গা করে নিয়েছে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ।
