FIFA’s appreciation for Salt Lake Stadium has made all of us proud: Mamata
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the compliments were given by the FIFA (football’s world governing body) authorities about the infrastructure and arrangements” at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK), popularly called Salt Lake Stadium, “have made all of us proud.”
The Chief Minister will host a dinner to honour the president of FIFA on October 26. He is coming to Kolkata to watch the final of the Under-17 World Cup on October 28.
“There is great enthusiasm among the youth over the U17 World Cup. The state government has distributed footballs among school and college students and also among clubs. This has taken the form of celebration and celebrations help to intensify our social ties,” she said.
It may be mentioned that Mamata Banerjee has written and composed a song for the ongoing celebration of football too.
She said the footballs, called Jayee and priced at Rs 2,500, and which are “made by our girls”, are being given free of cost to develop love for the game amongst the students and youth.

ঝাড়গ্রামে জেলা সফরে গিয়ে এক বিজয়া সম্মিলনীর অনুষ্ঠানে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বলেন, “ফিফা বলেছে সল্টলেক স্টেডিয়াম বিশ্বের এক নম্বর স্টেডিয়ামে পরিণত হতে পারে, এবং তা হয়েছে, এটা বাংলার গর্ব।”
ফিফার প্রেসিডেন্টের সম্মানে ২৬শে অক্টোবর একটি নৈশভোজের আয়োজন করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী। আগামী ২৮শে অক্টোবর অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপের ফাইনাল দেখতে কলকাতা আসছেন ফিফার প্রেসিডেন্ট।
অনূর্ধ্ব ১৭ বিশ্বকাপ নিয়ে উত্তেজনা তুঙ্গে। এই বিশ্বকাপ এখন ফুটবল উৎসবের রূপ নিয়েছে। রাজ্য সরকার স্কুল, কলেজ ও ক্লাবে ক্লাবে প্রায় ১.৫ লক্ষ ফুটবল বিলি করেছে। গ্রামবাংলার মেয়েদের তৈরী এই ফুটবলগুলির নাম ‘জয়ী’।
প্রসঙ্গত, মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এই বিশ্বকাপ উপলক্ষে একটি গান লিখেছেন ও তাতে সুরও দিয়েছেন।
