Eco-friendly cottages to come up in tourist hotspots of north Bengal

Tourism in north Bengal is all set to receive a further boost with more eco-friendly cottages coming up at top tourist hotspots.
These cottages will be constructed at Gajoldoba, Tiger Hill and Tonglu by the State Tourism Department, in collaboration with the Parks & Gardens Wing (North) of the State Forest Department.
Fifteen cottages will come up at Bhorer Alo of Gajoldoba, and five each at Tiger Hill and Tonglu by Durga Puja this year.
Bhorer Alo, a dream project of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, is spread across a sprawling 210 acres at Gajoldoba in Jalpaiguri district.
The cottages on Tiger Hill, which would wooden cottages with double occupancy facility, along with all modern amenities will come up surrounding a British cottage which burned down in the 1980s. Tiger Hill is a famous sunrise point, located 11km from Darjeeling.
Two separate dormitories for men and women, with ten beds in each, will come up in Tonglu which is located on the world-famous trekking trail to Sandakphu – the highest point in Bangla, at an altitude of 12,000ft.
