DPR for Kalighat skywalk soon

A detailed project report (DPR) will be prepared soon for the construction of a skywalk to ease congestion, reaching up to the Kalighat Temple and beautification of the area in and around the temple.
This information was provided by the Urban Development Minister in the State Assembly on Wednesday, July 26 in answer to a question.
The skywalk project was announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee last November while inaugurating the Dakshineswar Rani Rashmoni Skywalk. Following the announcement, Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has started a survey on the underground utilities in Kalighat area.
More recently, the civic body has constructed a series of stalls outside the temple premises where the hawkers inside the premises would be shifted to temporarily so that the beautification drive inside the temple could be taken up. the beautification would start from early July, after the shifting is complete.
While answering the question, the minister further said that Rs 63 crore was spent for the constructing of the Dakshineswar Skywalk and beautification of the area, Rs 5.92 crore for the beatification of Tarakeswar Temple, Rs 4.77 crore for the development of the Tarakeswar Temple complex and Rs 4.39 crore for city planning of Tarakeswar.
