‘Dhan Din Cheque Nin’ garners huge response
The newly-introduced scheme, Dhan Din Cheque Nin – immediate payment through cheque against buying of paddy – has seen a tremendous response among farmers, speeding up the procurement process.
The procurement of paddy had started from November 2018, and is expected to continue till July or August this year.
The scheme was introduced under the instructions of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from January 5. Under this scheme, a farmer can sell a maximum of 45 quintals of paddy.
The government has already distributed 1.6 lakh cheques to the farmers. The procurement has been good throughout the State, among which the districts of Paschim Bardhaman, Hooghly and Nadia deserve special mention.
