Correctional home inmates to organise Deepavali Mela on the occasion of Diwali
The Bengal Correctional Administration Department would be organising a unique festival today called Deepavali Mela, named so because it is being held on the occasion of Diwali.
The uniqueness arises from the fact that all the participants of the fair are inmates of correctional homes of Bengal, and the location is a correctional home too – Alipore Central Correctional Home (ACCH). It is to be held from 11 am to 7 pm and is open to everyone.
There are two aspects to the festival – a food festival and another selling various products. The chefs for the food festival are the inmates of Alipore Central Correctional Home (AACH). The other products to be sold have been made by the inmates of Alipore, Presidency and Dum Dum Correctional Homes and Alipore Women Correctional Home.
This is another of the numerous efforts that the department has been making to bring about a better atmosphere inside the correctional homes of the state.
In this connection, it needs to be mentioned that the government had, last June, organised a Kara Utsav at Rabindra Sadan in Kolkata.
দীপাবলিতে বন্দীদের আয়োজনে উৎসব
আজ সংশোধন প্রশাসন দপ্তরের উদ্যোগে আয়োজিত হবে অভিনব ‘দীপাবলি মেলা’।
এই মেলার স্টলগুলিতে থাকবেন রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন সংশোধনাগারের বন্দীরা। এই উৎসবটি অনুষ্ঠিতও হবে আলিপুর সংশোধনাগারে। অনুষ্ঠানটি চলবে সকাল ১১টা থেকে সন্ধ্যা ৭টা পর্যন্ত।
এই অনুষ্ঠানে একদিকে যেমন অনুষ্ঠিত হবে খাদ্য উৎসব, অন্যদিকে তেমনই থাকবে বন্দীদের তৈরি নানারকম জিনিস কেনার সুযোগ।
প্রসঙ্গত, এই বছর জুন মাসে রাজ্য সরকার রবীন্দ্র সদনে কারা উৎসবের আয়োজন করে।
