Coming soon: Home delivery of fish
State Fisheries Development Corporation (SFDC) is soon going to start home delivery of fishes. SFDC falls under the Fisheries Department of Bangla Government.
The delivery would start before the Pujas and initially the service would be available in Salt Lake and Newtown.
For this purpose, the corporation is procuring 10 vehicles, which are three-wheelers, at a total cost of Rs 40 lakh. Five of them would be small fish delivery vehicles and five vehicles would come with deep fridges. All the vehicles would run on solar powered batteries. Each fridge would have a capacity of 200 litres.
Varieties of fishes would be sold through the vehicles. The smaller vehicles would be able to access even the smallest of paths and enter houses and flats, thus bringing fresh fish to people’s doorsteps.
