Coming soon: Apps to book autos and totos in Newtown
New Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA), an organisation under the State Government, is developing an app for calling autorickshaws and totos in Newtown. An app-enabled bicycle service is already successfully running in the area.
This would convenience passengers in a big way. According to the NKDA chairman, the urban development organisation is collaboration with the Information Technology & Electronics Department for creating this app.
All existing autos and totos would be made a part of the app-based service. All routes and fares as well as the current locations of the vehicles on a map would be visible on the app. The minimum fare would be made Rs 7.
It is important to note that even those who do not have smartphones would be able to book autos and totos – by calling up a particular number.
