CM wants Left to press for moratorium

Chief minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee wants a consensus on an issue concerning Bengal. And it's nothing to do with the presidential poll. The chief minister wants all parties, including arch rival Left to press for the moratorium on debt repayment. On Friday, Mamata proposed an all-party delegation to Delhi to pursue the moratorium demand in the interests of the state.
While answering a question in the assembly, the chief minister said she had met Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former finance minister Pranab Mukherjee several times to discuss the issue. Nothing has happened. I urge Partha Chatterjee to take an all-party delegation to New Delhi to press for the demand again. The burden of interest payments has now risen to Rs 25,000 crore from Rs 22,000 crore. The government is constrained to carry out development projects due to paucity of funds. The Centre can't shirk responsibility now for it had allowed the state to do so, she said.
Criticizing the left for the financial mess she said ” those who walked out of the House shouting slogans have left behind a debt of Rs. 2 lakh crore. Despite the constraints, we are paying salaries, running hospitals, giving help to imams and the villagers of Singur.”
