Cheer before Durga Puja – Rs 45,000 Cr investment in Haldia

The state Cabinet on Tuesday has given its approval to allot land at Haldia to The Chatterjee Group, to set up a Purified Terapthalic Acid (PTA) manufacturing plant.
Suvendu Adhikari, chairman of the Haldia Development Authority, said in Nabanna after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday that “The Standing Committee of the Cabinet on Industry, Infrastructure and Employment, headed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has given its approval to allot land for setting up of the unit at Haldia.”
He further said that the Haldia Development Authority had made the proposal through the state Urban Development and Municipal Affairs department and with its approval, 98.573 acres of land will be given to the group. The land will be given from the state’s land bank and it will be another major unit that will come up at Haldia.
There will be an investment of Rs 4,500 crore and it will generate 1,000 job opportunities for both skilled and unskilled labourers. There will be generation of around 1,000 job opportunities and it is expected to go up later.
It may be mentioned that Haldia has witnessed huge investments in the past few years. The investment of Rs 4,500 crore to set up the PTA manufacturing plant will further boost the economy of the area and many youths will get jobs. The state government has also organised business meets at Haldia and it has helped in attracting investments to the industrial area.
