Centre targeting Bangla govt, says Sudip Bandopadhyay in Lok Sabha

Trinamool Congress leader in the House Sudip Bandyopadhyay on Monday asserted that the Centre was targeting the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal Government and has issued 10 advisories in as many days.

Registering strong protest, he said such steps were hurting the democratic system and also urged Lok Sabha Speaker not to allow same questions to be asked again and again in the House.

“Why is the West Bengal government being targeted?” he asked in the Lok Sabha while speaking during discussion on the National Investigation Agency (amendment) Bill. “Sir, some questions in Parliament are normally not allowed to be raised in the floor of the House are being allowed to be raised in mild variation again and again. Also, 10 advisories have been issued to our State Government by GOI in 10 days only. This is hurting the parliamentary democratic system.

“Why is the Government of West Bengal being targeted like this? That is our question. Sir, any Member is asking any question and that is going to State Government. In the last 10 days, 10 advisories have been sent by GOI to Government of West Bengal. It is butchering the parliamentary democratic process. Why should the State be targeted in such a manner? We will not allow it.

The party’s leader in the House added that in order to draw the attention of the Speaker, “we strongly protest that you must take care of it and the questions will not be allowed to be repeated again and again in this manner. The Government should be shameful about sending advisories to the State Government.
