Bus depot upgrade: Night shelters, Wi-Fi, cafeterias and more
The Bengal Government is going in for a major renovation of bus depots at prime locations in Kolkata and the districts. The Department has drawn a master-plan, which includes the setting up of several modern facilities at the depots.
Among the facilities to be introduced are night shelters for passengers, electronic displays, Wi-Fi facilities, entertainment zones, cafeterias, toilet blocks and watchtowers.
For better security of passengers, the Transport Department will set up watchtowers near the terminals and around the night shelters. The shelters would enable passengers to stay at a bus terminus, making it easier for them to catch an early morning bus. The electronic displays would give real-time information on bus movements.
The Transport Department is in the process of upgrading depots with modern amenities at Joka, Karunamayee, Garia, Jadavpur, airport, Howrah and Baruipur.
According to the Transport Minister, 20 depots have already been upgraded and 70 more are going to be upgraded in the various districts this financial year.
বাস ডিপোর পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়ন করবে রাজ্য সরকার
কলকাতা ও জেলার বিভিন্ন বাস ডিপোর পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নের উদ্যোগ নিল রাজ্য সরকার। রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর একটি মাস্টার প্ল্যান তৈরী করেছে। বাস ডিপোগুলিতে সমস্ত আধুনিক সুবিধা ও পরিষেবা দিতেই এই উদ্যোগ।
যেসব নতুন পরিকাঠামো তৈরী করা হবে, সেগুলি হল: যাত্রীদের জন্য রাত্রিবাসের জায়গা, ইলেক্ট্রনিক ডিসপ্লে, ওয়াই-ফাই পরিষেবা, এন্টারটেনমেন্ট জোন, টয়লেট ব্লক এবং ওয়াচ টাওয়ার
প্রাথমিকভাবে এই সংস্কারগুলি করা হবে জোকা, করুণাময়ী, গড়িয়া, যাদবপুর, এয়ারপোর্ট, হাওড়া ও বারুইপুর ডিপোতে।
পরিবহন মন্ত্রী বলেন, ইতিমধ্যেই ২০টি ডিপো সংস্কার করা হয়েছে এবং আরও ৭০টি খুব শীঘ্রই করা হবে।
