BGBS to be held every two years

In order to complete all the processes after the receiving of an investment proposal, like signing memorandums of understanding (MoU), preparing detailed project report (DPR) and completing other formalities, in a well-defined manner, the Bangla Government has decided to make its highly-successful international business summit, Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS), a biennial affair.
This was announced by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state Assembly on Wednesday, July 26.
The last summit was held in February 2019, and hence the next edition will be held in 2021. She added that this decision will help the government make the investments already being processed more fruitful in the real sense of the term, before the next edition of the summit is held.
She also said 50 per cent of the investments received during the five editions of BGBS held since 2015 are already under implementation.
According to a senior official of the State Finance Department, the 2019 BGBS has seen investments to the tune of Rs 2.84 lakh crore, which is expected to create 8 to 10 lakh jobs in Bangla. Eighty-six MoUs were signed, while 45 business-to-consumer (B2C) and 1,200 business-to-business (B2B) meetings were held.
