Bengali TV serial shoots to resume from Friday after CM’s intervention

After Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s intervention, the shooting of Bengali television serials is all set to start from Friday morning. The CM had called a meeting on Thursday evening at Nabanna, where she heard all the grievances of Artists’ Forum and the producers. Later, while addressing the media, said, “From tomorrow morning shooting will resume. We have a great talent pool in our entertainment industry. All the issues have been resolved smoothly.”

The CM also informed that all the differences of between the artists and the producers have been solved. The issues of due payments will also be taken care of. Soumitra Chatterjee, Prosenjit Chatterjee, representatives of Welfare Association of Television Producers and the TV channels, and Minister Aroop Biswas were present in this meeting.

Mamata Banerjee added that a Joint Consolidated committee has been made where there will be representatives from the Artists’ Forum, Welfare Association of Television Producers, Television Channels and Technicians. The committee will meet once in a month to timely sort out the problems. Referring to the General Entertainment Channels and the loss faced by the entertainment industry, Mamata opined that the industry is doing well and it is also providing employment opportunity. Any disruption can affect the industry as a whole.

She added, “I hope everyone is happy now. The viewers can now watch the fresh telecast of the serials. Today not only women but even men watch television serials.”

On a lighter note, she added that she is also a viewer of Bengali television serials.
