Bengal Tourism’s big social media push

To increase its reach, especially among the younger generation, the State Tourism Department has decided to go all out to promote itself on social media. It has a fairly good presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and now it is aiming to strengthen its position with regard to content.
For this, it has divided the state into six regions, and has appointed professional photographers, videographers and agencies to visit each of these and create a database of images and videos for putting up on the social media vehicles.
The six regions are Hills, Dooars, Central Bengal, Rarh Bengal, Gangetic Bengal and Western Bengal. Five to ten-second video clips are also being planned for showing on television.
