Bengal Power Dept considering use of floating power tech
The Bengal Government’s Power Department is exploring the possibility of using floating power technology, which can be made operational through gas.
A leading Norwegian company, Floating Power Solution, which has developed this new technology, met the Power Minister and other senior officials of his department.
The Power Department has asked the company to submit a proposal in this regard. If economically profitable, the State Government would go for the adoption of this technology.
Elaborating on the technology, an official of the department said that this plant can be set up on board a ship, in a pattern similar to the one by which a thermal power plant is set up on a field.

রাজ্য সরকারের বিদ্যুৎ দপ্তর ভাসমান শক্তি প্রযুক্তির ব্যবহারের পরিকল্পনা করছে। ভাসমান শক্তি প্রযুক্তি গ্যাসের মাধ্যমে কাজ করে।
নরওয়ের একটি সংস্থা, যারা এই প্রযুক্তি তৈরী করেছে, রাজ্যের বিদ্যুৎ মন্ত্রী এবং অন্যান্য উচ্চাধিকারিকের সঙ্গে দেখা করেন।
রাজ্য বিদ্যুৎ দপ্তর ওই সংস্থাকে এই বিষয়ে একটি প্রস্তাব দিতে বলেছে। যদি অর্থনৈতিকভাবে এই প্রস্তাব লাভজনক হয়, তাহলে রাজ্য এই প্রযুক্তি ব্যবহার শুরু করবে।
বিদ্যুৎ দপ্তরের এক আধিকারিক বলেন, এই প্রযুক্তির জন্য যে বিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্র প্রয়োজন, তা যে কোনও জাহাজের বোর্ডে তৈরী করা সম্ভব, অনেকটা যেমন ভাবে স্থলে তাপবিদ্যুৎ কেন্দ্র তৈরী করা হয়।
