Bengal leads in ease of doing business: Mamata Banerjee at Germany
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today met businessmen and representatives of various chambers of commerce in Germany. A delegation from Germany had visited Kolkata in January to take part in the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS). They had invited the Chief Minister.
The main focus today was the possibility of German investment in the MSME sector which is now the thrust area of the state government.
The CM will go to Italy and hold talks with the businessmen after her trip to Germany.
Highlights of the Chief Minister’s speech:
Historic relations between Bengal and Germany since 1957, established by Goethe Institute.
Germany loves football. Even Kolkata loves football. We always maintain the best relations with Germany.
I think our chambers of commerce have given a loud and clear message. My captains of industry have already spoken about their experience.
Germany was our partner country in Bengal Global Business Summit in 2018. It was our privilege. Even this year a delegation will be taking part from Dusseldorf.
Bengal has a strategic location. Bengal is the gateway of south-east Asian countries, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. Bengal is also the gateway to north-eastern states, and eastern India.
Bengal has a lot of talent. Our young generation has a lot of potential. We are number one in skill development.
Power is one of the requirements of the industry. We can provide power. We are even supplying power to other countries.
We have our own land bank, land map, land use policy.
In small and medium scale industries, we are number one. We are number one in e-governance, e-tendering, ease of doing business.
Even in implementing social sector schemes, we are number one. Last year, we got first prize from United Nations for girl child empowerment.
