Bengal Govt to set up 100 English-medium schools at affordable cost

The State Government is planning to set up 100 English medium schools which will offer quality education at a low cost. The State Education Minister announced this recently, adding that the Government will also recruit separate teachers for teaching in these schools.
The reason, he explained, is that many students cannot study in private English-medium schools because of financial constraints. The new schools will start from the primary or upper primary level. The Education Department is inviting proposals in this regard from various teachers’ bodies and institutions.
It may be mentioned that the Government has created as many as 152 sanctioned posts for teaching science subjects in English medium at the Higher Secondary-level.
The State Government has already started more than a dozen separate sections for English-medium schools at the Higher Secondary-level. It has already created two posts for English-medium teaching in each of the 39 Government schools and is in the process of recruiting teachers.
