Bengal Govt to mark sesquicentennial birth anniversary of Sister Nivedita
The sesquicentennial (150th) birth anniversary of Sister Nivedita will be observed in all state-run, -aided and -sponsored schools in Bengal on October 30, a notification issued by the state Education Department on Tuesday.
The government has set up a Sister Nivedita 150th Birth Celebration Committee with Education Minister Partha Chatterjee as its chairman. The committee has proposed, among other things, the creation of a chair after Sister Nivedita at Diamond Harbour Women’s University.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently inaugurated the Kolkata Municipal Municipal Corporation-renovated Mayer Bari, the house where Sister Nivedita had opened her school in November 1898.
Mamata Banerjee is also flying to England to attend a ceremony where a Blue Plaque will be installed at the house in London where the Sister lived in England before coming to India.
ভগিনী নিবেদিতার সার্ধশতবার্ষিকী সমস্ত স্কুলে উদযাপন করবে রাজ্য সরকার
রাজ্য সরকারের শিক্ষা দপ্তরের এক নির্দেশিকায় জানা গেছে আগামী ৩০শে অক্টোবর সমস্ত সরকার পরিচালিত, অনুদানপ্রাপ্ত ও সরকারি স্পন্সরড স্কুলে বর্ণাঢ্য অনুষ্ঠানের মাধ্যমে উদযাপিত হবে ভগিনী নিবেদিতার সার্ধশতবার্ষিকী।
রাজ্য সরকার এই অনুষ্ঠানকে কেন্দ্র করে কমিটি গঠন করেছে। সদ্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় কলকাতা পুরসভার অধিগৃহীত ও সংস্কার করা মায়ের বাড়ির নবরূপে উদ্বোধন করেন। এই বাড়িতে ভগিনী নিবেদিতা ১৮৯৮ সালে স্কুল খোলেন।
প্রসঙ্গত, ভগিনী নিবেদিতার সার্ধশতবর্ষ উপলক্ষে এক অনুষ্ঠানে যোগ দিতে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ইংল্যান্ড যাচ্ছেন নভেম্বর মাসে। সেখানে ভগিনী নিবেদিতার পুরনো বাড়িতে একটি ব্লু প্ল্যাক উন্মোচিত করা হবে।
