Bengal Govt to launch mobile banks in villages
The State Government is gearing up to launch mobile banks, that is, banks on vehicles, in villages on a large scale.
This was instructed to by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a recent administrative review meeting in Baharampur.
This is a precursor to comprehensive plans of the government to open a bank in every gram panchayat of the state.
As a start, cooperative banks have been opened in five unbanked gram panchayats in Murshidabad district, by which 75,000 people would be benefitted. Ten more such banks are in the offing.
The mobile banks would also be run by cooperative banks. Employees of cooperative banks would man these mobile banks, visiting far-flung villages of the state on a regular basis. Thus, villagers would be able to conduct banking transactions too.
There are currently almost 5,000 cooperative societies. The State Government would list the better performing ones among these to run the mobile banks.
প্রতি পঞ্চায়েতে ভ্রাম্যমাণ ব্যাঙ্ক খুলতে উদ্যোগী মুখ্যমন্ত্রী
রাজ্যে প্রতি পঞ্চায়েতে ব্যাঙ্ক খুলতে উদ্যোগী হয়েছে রাজ্য সরকার। কিন্তু, সেটা যত দিন না হচ্ছে, তত দিনের জন্য পঞ্চায়েতগুলিতে ভ্রাম্যমাণ ব্যাঙ্ক খুলতে উদ্যোগী হয়েছেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। বহরমপুরে প্রশাসনিক বৈঠকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বিষয়টি সমবায় দপ্তরের অধিকর্তাদের খতিয়ে দেখে ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নির্দেশে মুর্শিদাবাদ জেলায় পাঁচটি ব্যাঙ্কহীন পঞ্চায়েতে শাখা খুলেছে কেন্দ্রীয় সমবায় ব্যাঙ্ক। এতে ৭৫ হাজার মানুষ উপকৃত হবেন। খুব শীঘ্রই আরও ১০টি ব্যাঙ্কহীন পঞ্চায়েতে শাখা খুলছে সমবায় ব্যাঙ্ক। এ ছাড়া ব্যাঙ্ক বিহীন পঞ্চায়েতগুলিতে সমবায় ব্যাঙ্ককে দিয়ে ভ্রাম্যমাণ ব্যাঙ্ক খুলতে হবে। নিয়মিত সমবায় ব্যাঙ্কের কর্মীরা পঞ্চায়েতগুলিতে যাবে।
রাজ্যে এখন প্রায় ৫ হাজার সমবায় গোষ্ঠী আছে। এই গোষ্ঠীগুলির মধ্যে যারা ভালো কাজ করছে, তাদেরকে নিয়ে ব্যাঙ্ক খোলার পরিকল্পনা আছে রাজ্যের।
