Bengal Govt planning co-working spaces in Silicon Valley Asia
The State Information Technology and Electronics (IT&E) Department is working on a plan to provide co-working spaces in the proposed Silicon Valley project in New Town. The project has been conceived by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
This was announced by the additional chief secretary of the department at the summit, ‘Innovation 2018’ organised by CII recently.
According to him, the concept of co-working is gaining momentum since innovation requires an environment of working in a community. Hence, the Government wants people to come to this place and use the plug-and-play infrastructure on a weekly or monthly or yearly rental basis.
The Bengal Government is resolute to build a strong and thriving start-up ecosystem and enabling entrepreneurship in the state. About 10,000 start-ups are working in Bengal.
