Bengal Govt issues notification for pension to journalists
The Trinamool Congress Government has decided to provide pension to journalists above 60 years, who have been in the profession for at least 15 years. A notification to this effect was issued on March 29.
Mamata Banerjee has always had a lot of respect for journalists, whether as an opposition leader or as Chief Minister. She has, in turn, received a lot of love and respect from them over the decades.
In February 2016, she had launched a scheme named Maavoi, which is a health insurance scheme for journalists and their dependents.
Now comes this new scheme of pension for elderly journalists, including photo-journalists, correspondents, camerapersons (news) and journalists engaged in news production. The scheme shall be applicable to all the journalists of the State who fulfil the specified criteria.
Besides age and period of professional service, a few other conditions have been notified. The rate of pension is Rs 2,500 per month.
The journalists should not be drawing any pension from any other source (except under Employees Provident Fund and/or covered under any other personal pension scheme, for which he/she had made contribution personally) and should not be receiving any regular salary or emolument from any organisation. Family members of the journalists concerned, however, are not included.
সাংবাদিকদের জন্য নতুন পেনশন প্রকল্পের ঘোষণা রাজ্য সরকারের
সাংবাদিকদের জন্য এক অভূতপূর্ব সিদ্ধান্ত নিল রাজ্য সরকার। ৬০ বছরের বেশী বয়সের সাংবাদিক, যারা ১৫ বছর বা তার বেশী সাংবাদিকতা করেছেন, তাদের জন্য বিশেষ ঘোষণা রাজ্যের।
বহুদিনের প্রতিক্ষিত এই নির্দেশিকা জারি হয় ২৯ তারিখে।এই প্রকল্প এ রাজ্যের সেই সকল সাংবাদিকদের জন্য যারা নিয়মিত সাংবাদিক/চিত্র-সাংবাদিক/সংবাদদাতা/চিত্রগ্রাহক হিসাবে কাজ করেছেন, এবং ৬০ বছরে অবসর নিয়েছেন কিন্তু, এমপ্লয়িজ প্রভিডেন্ট ফান্ড, নিজস্ব কোনও পেনশন প্রকল্প ছাড়া আর কোনও রকম পেনশন পান না। মাসিক ২৫০০ টাকার পেনশন সেই ব্যাক্তিকে দেওয়া হবে।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর এই সিদ্ধান্তকে কলকাতা প্রেস ক্লাব কুর্ণিশ জানিয়েছে।
এই প্রকল্পের জন্য কীভাবে সাংবাদিকরা আবেদন করবেন, তার জন্য প্রেস ক্লাব সাংবাদিকদের সুবিধার্থে প্রেস ক্লাবে একটি কর্মশালার আয়োজন করে।
