Bangla to take a leap in quantum computing

The State Government has been giving a lot of stress on modern aspects of computing and internet-related technologies like cybersecurity, blockchain, internet of things, artificial intelligence, etc.
Quantum computing is one such technology with a lot of potential, especially for building better, faster supercomputers. It is already being researched on and studied at top institutions across the world.
Calcutta University (CU), one of the premier State universities of Bangla, has decided to start courses on the topic. Towards that end, it presented a proposal to the State Government at a recent summit organised by the Information Technology and Electronics Department at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town.
According to the proposal, a centre of excellence would be set up, which would have numerous facilities including those for conducting cutting-edge research. Studies would also be conducted and projects undertaken in using quantum computing for solving real-life issues.
A quantum computing knowledge workshop was also held as part of the summit. Also discussed at the summit was how to inspire the best students of Bangla to take up the subject of quantum computing and through it, contribute to the development of the State. Another topic discussed was how to protect related software and hardware from hackers and viruses.
