Bangla Govt to focus on local theme-based promotion of tourist spots
For the purpose of promotion of tourist spots, the State Tourism Department has decided to focus on the intrinsic value of each place.
Bangla is famous for its natural and heritage spots. To increase their popularity, according to departmental officials, a local theme-based approach will be taken. It would focus on the intrinsic value of each particular place.
The nature spots have been kept in the category of ‘Sea to the Sky’. Tea tourism, Royal Bengal Tiger and the historical places would have their own theme-based circuits.
There is also likely to be a folk music-based circuit, centred on the bauls. The State Government is also making efforts to brand Durga Puja and its related aspects (heritage, food, decorations, pandals, Durga Puja Carnival on Red Road) as one of theme-based approaches.
Another decision taken by the Tourism Department, according to officials, is to send all information for tourists related to Durga Puja to consulates and both star and non-star hotels.
