Bangla Govt to construct a monument at Singur

The State Government will erect a monument in Singur, dedicated to the people who participated in the famous movement in 2006 against the forcible land acquisition by the Left Front Government.
The State Public Works Department (PWD) will build the monument at an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore. The monument will contain the names of the 14 people martyred in Singur.
The monument will be developed on a one-acre plot off National Highway 2 at Singer Bheri, close to the 997 acres taken away forcefully.
Among the 14 martyrs of Singur are Tapasi Malik and Rajkumar Bhul. Tapasi, a teenage girl, was burnt to death after being raped while 26-year-old Bhul succumbed to his injuries after being beaten up by the police.
