Bangla Govt making elaborate preparations for Durga Pujo immersion
Elaborate security arrangements have been made by Kolkata Police as well as the civic authorities for the peaceful conduct of the immersion processions to the various ghats, as well as the ceremonies thereon.
Officers of the Kolkata Police will man the riverfront to prevent onlookers from getting too close to the river. Special vigil will be maintained from a watch tower near the ghat. (WHICH GHAT?)
Cranes will be deployed at certain ghats to lift and extricate the jetsam from the river to avoid pollution. Additional lights will be set up at the immersion ghats. The flowers, frames and weapon foils will be dumped in separate vats to avoid polluting the river.
Other than maintaining law and order during immersion, teams of river police and disaster management groups will patrol the waterway and embankments. Closed-circuit television cameras are being installed at certain ghats as well.
