Bangla CM inaugurates Soujanya – a guesthouse of international standards

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated Soujanya, a guest house of international standards. It is located on the grounds of Hastings House in New Alipore, Kolkata.

The foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister in June, 2015. The guest house has been constructed by the State Public Works Department.

High-profile guests like the President and the Prime Minister and important international guests will be housed at Soujanya.

The domed palatial architecture on Judges Court Road has been built over an area of 1 lakh square feet. It has a G+2 structure. In the ground floor, there is a banquet hall along with a media centre for press conferences. A beautiful lawn surrounds it. There is an underground parking lot as well with space for 40 cars.

Highlights of the Chief Minister’s speech:

We are constructing an annex building besides Nabanna. We have named it Upanna. We have also set up ‘Shubhanna’ in Bidhannagar. Dhana-Dhanya auditorium is also coming up.

We are renovating Milan Mela grounds. It will be of international standards. We have set up Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, Mother’s Wax Museum and Eco Park also.

We will construct some more flyovers in Kolkata. Budge Budge-Maheshtala Flyover will be inaugurated soon.

The skywalk at Dakshineshwar will be inaugurated on November 5. We are thinking of constructing a skywalk at Kalighat also.

We have allocated Rs 18,000 crore for creation of physical infrastructure. We have set aside Rs 25,000 crore in the budge for this purpose. People will benefit because of this.

Even Hyderabad House in Delhi does not have the facilities we are offering at Soujanyo. There are nine suites here where heads of state can stay. We have also set up a media room for journalists.

Large conventions can be held at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre. At Soujanyo, medium-sized meets can be held.

My best wishes to all the PWD workers. I had identified the land for Soujanyo, Gajaldoba and Eco Park.

We have also set up Sister Nivedita College for girls. We are creating infrastructure for people.

Tourism and business will come together with the setting up of an international convention centre at Digha.
