5 semi-automatic mini slaughterhouses coming up in Kolkata
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation will set up five semi-automatic mini slaughter houses, in New Market, Lansdowne, Entally and Behala. The civic body has plans to ultimately set up such slaughter houses in all the boroughs.
For setting up the first five, Rs 3 crore each will be spent.
Kolkata presently has four slaughterhouses for pigs, sheep, goats, etc but there is a need now for several more. More slaughter houses will also decrease the pressure on the existing ones.
The new semi-automatic slaughter houses will maintain strict hygienic conditions in all the processes and will thus usher in a scientific process of animal slaughter.
