2,600 banking service points coming up in non-banking villages

The State Cooperation Department is setting up ‘banking service points’ at non-banking villages across the State – around 2,600 would be set up. This announcement was made by the State Cooperation Minister a recent programme in Kolkata where representatives of 1,000 cooperative societies were present.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had directed to take necessary steps to ensure that people in rural parts do not need to travel long distances to avail banking services. The banking service points would satisfy that need.
Most banking services facilities will be available at the service points. Online banking services will be available too. There are around 700 gram panchayats without banking services.
