Bangla leads in rural house construction
Despite the Central Government’s constant attempts at depriving the State, Bangla has still managed to come out on top in Grameen Awas Yojana. This has come out in a report released recently by the Ministry of Rural Development.
In financial year (FY) 2018-19, 13,69,106 houses were constructed in Bangla, which is the highest among all the States. This number represents 15.12 per cent of the total number of houses in the country.
In FY 2017-18 too Bangla was in the top five. With 2,18,940 houses, Bangla was at number three. Therefore from number three, the State has climbed to number one in just the following year.
The top five districts in the State, as per the report for 20181-9, were South 24 Parganas, Murshidabad, Birbhum, Purba Bardhaman and North 24 Parganas.
