Families of victims of post-poll violence to be offered compensation: Bangla CM

Bangla Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today unveiled a statue of Vidyasagar, a month after his bust was vandalised at Vidyasagar College by miscreants attending a road show of the BJP. From the stage, she lashed out at the BJP for post-poll violence in the State.

The CM announced that families of all victims, who lost their lives in post-poll violence, will be offered compensation. She instructed the Chief Secretary to do the needful.

Speaking at the event at Hare School, she said, “Ten people have lost their lives due to post-poll violence. The Governor exaggerated the figure. We respect the Governor. Every post has constitutional limits.”

The CM called for a ‘reawakening’ in the State after the unveiling of the statue of Vidyasagar. She called upon everyone to take care of the State and respect Bangla language. She maintained that she will not tolerate any insult to the State and will fight such attempts with all her strength.
