Bangla Govt ensuring education for all
The School Education Department provides many free services under various initiatives. These have benefitted numerous students since 2011, and are thus helping Bangla achieve its goals in the education sector.
List of FREE SERVICES for school students:
- Textbooks to almost 2 crore students every year
- Textbooks printed in six languages – Bengali, English, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, Santhali
- School uniforms to almost 7 crore students
- School bags to almost 60 lakh students
- Shoes to over 50 lakh students (Pather Sathi Scheme)
- Necessary aids and appliances to almost 2 lakh special needs students
- Travel allowance to almost 2.8 lakh special needs students
- Escort allowance to almost 2.3 lakh special needs students
- Swami Vivekananda Scholarship to over 1 lakh students
- Daily mid-day meals (including SSK, MSK, etc.) started in 84,000 schools
- Daily mid-day meals to 1.15 crore students
- Test papers for secondary examinees
- Special cell set up under West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) for promotion of education in Santhali (Ol-chiki script)
