Bangla Govt taking up project to beautify Diamond Harbour

The State Government has taken up a plan to beautify various places in and around Diamond Harbour to attract more tourists all year round.

The Tourism, Irrigation and Public Works Departments are involved in this Rs 25-crore project. Rs 7 crore has already been allotted. The project is expected to be over by 2020.

One km stretch along the river Hooghly from the jetty to the picnic spot of Muktangan will be developed. A part of the park will be a huge waterbody as well. The park will have facilities for boating, various lighting arrangements as well as classy restaurants.

A hanging balcony would be constructed along the river too, stretching for 2 km from the jetty to Kellar Math. The balcony will have a restaurant and a toilet as well to make things comfortable for sightseers.

There will be wonderful views of sunrise and sunset from both the balcony and the park. A stretch along the river is also being planned to be developed like the Marine Drive in Mumbai.

South 24 Parganas district has many well-known tourist attractions. A major portion of Sundarbans on the Indian side is located in that district. There are natural, historical and wildlife spots like Bakkhali, Raichak, Patharpratima and Bhagabatpur Crocodile Project.
