Award for dengue awareness at Durga Puja pandals

Award for dengue awareness at Durga Puja pandals

Celebration with caution – this will be the guiding force for Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) this year while selecting the best Durga Puja pandals in town. With the novel concept of ‘Swasthya Bandhab Sharad Samman’ (Health-Friendly Puja Awards), KMC aims to raise awareness about dengue and vector-borne diseases.

The KMC regularly conducts awareness drives about dengue and other vector-borne diseases. Now the civic body has decided to involve the Durga Puja committees across the city as well as they have a huge community reach.

Interested Puja committees will have to create adequate awareness about dengue through the distribution of leaflets and booklets, which would be provided by the KMC. As per the rules, on October 4 and 5, the Puja organisers would have to undertake door-to-door awareness drives and on October 6, organise camps at their respective pandals.

The forms for these awards would be handed over to the Puja committees by the corporation’s Health Department workers. They would be available at every ward office as well. September 25 is the last date for the submission of forms.
