Bangla CM writes theme song for prominent Durga Puja
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has composed the theme song for Suruchi Sangha, a popular Durga Puja of Kolkata. She has been writing the theme songs for Durga Puja since 2015.
The Chief Minister, during a meeting with puja organisers, had said that the lyrics are aimed at bringing back the spirit of ‘agomoni’ songs (traditional Bengali songs invoking the goddess) like ‘Ja Devi Sarbabhuteshu’.
The theme song this year has been sung by Indranil Sen, who is not just a veteran singer but also a minister of the State Government. Last year too Mamata Banerjee had composed the theme song, ‘Boichitrer Muktoy Gantha Ekotar Monihar’. In 2016, she had written ‘Ei prithibi ektai desh…” and “Maa go tumi sarbojonin…” in 2015.
