Bangla Govt developing voice-activated technology to make communication easier

The State Information Technology & Electronics (IT&E) Department is developing artificial intelligence (AI)-based voice-activated technology and related affordable devices to enable communication with those who are not at ease with the written language. This was announced by the IT&E secretary at a recent summit organised by a digital services company.
Voice-activated commands and requests would help in reaching out easily to people from the economically weaker sections of society, who are often illiterate or neo-literate and who may not have the means to own smartphones.
Developing this technology is part of the Bangla Government’s strategy of ‘being inclusive’ in the use of technology, enabling all the sections of society to reap benefits. For the Government, the real success lies in the spread of technology for the benefit of every individual.
It may be mentioned that the recently-launched Bengalathon 2018 is also inviting software-based solutions from students, technical professionals and common citizens.
